HTC Desire SV (like as new).

A business man does not need all these races for gigahertz, no powerful graphics cores are needed, no matter how hard you and I try to impose it. From the device he needs quality, rigor of design, convenience and practicality. To date, there are very few decent Drugster offers on the market, we will consider the best of them - HTC Desire SV.
Design and layout of elements
Looks Desire SV, like all representatives of the NTS in recent years, good. In his hand, the smartphone is like a glove, literally do not want to leave in your pocket. All materials are nice and high quality. In our test sample, the back cover squeaks a little, but we were assured that this defect is missing in the final version. By the way, it is made by soft touch technology, and fingerprints here are barely noticeable due to the fact that the lid is matte. It has an 8 megapixel camera with flash, a hole for the speaker and logos.
On the right side - the volume rocker. Above - a lock button and headphone jack. The buttons are too recessed into the case, so it’s not so easy to grope them. Below is a micro USB port and a microphone. The left side is left blank.
The front side is equipped with a 4.3-inch screen based on a matrix Super LCD 2 with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. It is protected by a coating of Gorila Glass 2. The pixel density is 217 ppi.
The screen is clearly visible grain, texts are not the best clarity, and, if you look at an angle, the picture loses its contrast and saturation. However, this is the lot of pixelophobes, and the target audience of this smartphone is unlikely to upset such trifles. Surf the vast expanses of it quite nice.
Also in front you can find three touch control keys and the speaker grille, which is stylish and practical. But after a while she will probably start to clog with dust. It contains light sensors, approximations and an indicator of missed events. What can really upset is the lack of a front camera, because for people in this segment video calls are increasingly becoming a large part of the working day.
Camera
It should be noted that, apparently, the guys from HTC have learned how to make good cameras. It was not something that surprised me, but I was directly impressed by its quality on this, I will emphasize, budget device.
The device has an 8 MP camera with a variety of shooting options, including panoramic and HDR shooting. Implemented the ability to shoot with a preset effect. The photos are contrasted with excellent color and detail, in a word, juicy. Unfortunately, there is no continuous shooting function, but there is no need to complain about the rate of fire. Just as in all models with the latest shell from HTC, in video mode (which was limited to 480p), you can take a photo without interrupting shooting.
I did not neglect the opportunity to compare cameras in Desire SV (right) and One X’s flagship (left). The result is obvious.
Camera settings, photo and video examples
Audio and beats audio
Along with the smartphone, a standard player is offered, which is deeply integrated with Soundhound and TuneIn Radio (by the way, full versions of the programs are also preinstalled). The player is comfortable, minimalistic, the widgets are beautiful. It is noteworthy that by setting the melody for a call directly from the player, you can jump into a simple audio editor and, for example, cut off a quiet intro.
Everything is very bright and joyful until the mini jack of your headphones goes down into the connector reserved for it. Here there is a rout in all respects. All ranges are filled up, the sound jumps (similar to what happens in Poweramp, if the “Limit” function is enabled).
I can only imagine this sound in standard headphones. The problem, as usual, is solved by Poweramp . And, unfortunately, in this case, you lose a wonderful integration with useful services. That same sound enhancement function from Beatsaudio is nothing more than a software feature.
Despite this, it turned out to be quite useful. When it is turned on, the saturation and detail of the sound increases, if you add to it the functionality proposed by Poweramp, then you can achieve the perfect sound.
The unresolved question remains, why the manufacturer, releasing a music-oriented smartphone, cannot take care of installing a high-quality player on it?
Dual SIM mode
The smartphone has Dual SIM mode. Both SIM cards work simultaneously in standby mode.
Slot number 1 supports third generation networks (3G), slot number 2 - only GSM \ EDGE \ GPRS.
Card format - micro SIM. A nice interface implementation for any action with a map: you always know which of them is involved in the current operation. It is possible to select a preferred card for both voice calls and Internet connection.
Despite the lack of an additional microphone for noise reduction, the quality of communication remains comfortable for the interlocutor.
Specifications and software
The device runs Android 4.0.4 and is equipped with the Qualcomm S4 family of low-end processors, code-named MSM8225 (1 GHz), its core is the two Cortex-A5 cores, which means it is made using the 45 nm process technology, and this is noticeable reflects on energy consumption. The interface works smoothly, sometimes too. I will not say that this is a slowdown, rather, a long response time of the screen. Similar was noticed on One X, but the upgrade to 4.1 brought it to life.
Hopefully, the manufacturer will not offend users of Desire SV and upgrade it to Jelly Bean in the first quarter of next year, although I haven’t found official confirmation of this. 768 MB of RAM and 2.2 GB of available disk space. The latter is divided into 2 local spaces: “Internal storage” and “Phone memory”. The possibility of expansion using a micro SD card (with a capacity of no more than 32 GB) is implemented. In this chip, Adreno 203 acts as a graphics core.
I didn’t try to launch heavyweight type Modern Combat 3, but sure mediums like Dead Trigger or Shadowgun: Deadzone come without brakes from the processor, but the graphics fail. Any moving objects in games are highly blurred. It is difficult to say, the problem here is in the weakness of the GPU or in the optimization for a specific device, we can only hope for the latter. Games also do not slow down at all.
The smartphone uses a stripped-down branded shell HTC Sense 4.1, it lacks a number of functions of the lock screen and 3D animation. There are also many pleasant moments, for example, a standard keyboard that supports the swype function, and even a typing calibration tool that allows you to personalize the keyboard.
Polaris Office and Dropbox are pre-installed (the user gets 23 GB of space in the online storage for a period of 2 years). 1620 mAh battery: in talk mode, mail and a small amount of surf it can live all day.
Conclusion
I repeat once again, the phone is not for the geek. It is pleasant to hold it in hands and to use it in the “for work” mode. He perfectly copes with daily tasks and will become you a reliable assistant. Particular emphasis is placed on the camera and the design of the smartphone, which favorably distinguishes it from numerous, but mostly stupid competitors. If you need a budget device with support for two SIM-cards, and talking on Skype is not your method, then HTC Desire SV is definitely the best choice for today.
